　本種は、スマトラ北部の Telong 山で最近発見されたばかりの新種です。
　本種は、溶岩が固まって出来た岩石を覆う苔の中に生えており、種小名の lavicola は、溶岩の上にはえているという意味です。
　本種の特徴は、花茎に見られる非常に長い苞にあります。

　このページの写真は、発見者の Andreas Wistuba 氏 が Telong 山の山頂付近で撮影したものです。
　この写真は上の袋ですが、色が濃くて細長いのが特徴です。

　顔を出して間もない、未成熟の花序です。この段階から、本種の特徴である、非常に長い苞を見ることができます。
